Flying with your smarTrike Wonder: carry-on, folded sizes and airport tips

Created by Coolkidz Australia

Every Wonder model folds in about three seconds to a single piece designed for the aircraft overhead locker. Here is what to check before you fly and how to make the airport easier.

A traveller lifts a folded smarTrike Wonder into an aircraft overhead locker.

Folded sizes and weights

  • Wonder: 54 × 25 × 34 cm, 5.9 kg
  • Wonder+: 52 × 25.5 × 41 cm, 6.42 kg
  • Wonder max: 54.5 × 26.5 × 38 cm, 6.95 kg

Each one folds to a single piece with nothing to detach. These sizes are for the Wonder range only.

Before you book

The Wonder range is carry-on approved and designed for the overhead locker, but cabin allowances vary by airline and fare. Compare your fare's cabin allowance with the folded size of your model before you fly. We do not list airline allowances because they change, so your airline's own website is the one to trust.

Keep your model's folded size handy, as gate staff may ask for it.

At the airport

  1. Ride it to the gate. Security will X-ray it folded.
  2. Fold it at the aircraft door. It takes about three seconds and there is nothing to reassemble.
  3. Lift it into the overhead locker, wheels in first.
  4. Unfold it at the arrival gate, and your child rides on from there.

If it goes in the hold

If the trike cannot travel in the cabin, it goes in the hold as a stroller. Ask for a gate check so you can use it right to the aircraft door and get it back at the aircraft when you land.

The same fold works on trains, trams and stairs: fold, carry and unfold.

Which model to take

The Wonder, at 5.9 kg, is the model families fly with most. Choose the Wonder max if your child is under 10 months or sleeps on the move, because it is the only one that reclines.

Travel damage

If your trike is damaged in transit, report it within 48 hours with photos. Transit damage is a carrier matter, but we will help with parts.
