Nanit Breathing Wear is what lets your Nanit camera track breathing motion. It is soft fabric printed with a pattern the camera reads from above the cot, with no sensors, wires or batteries.

How the pattern works
The camera sits above the cot and uses computer vision to follow the printed pattern on the Breathing Wear as your baby's chest rises and falls. The app shows this as breathing motion in real time, and sends an alert to your phone if breathing motion stops beyond Nanit's alert threshold.
- There is nothing electronic in the Band or pyjamas, so the only thing touching your baby is fabric.
- Your baby only needs to wear the pattern once, either as a Band or as pyjamas, not both.
- Breathing motion monitoring needs a Nanit camera on a Wall Mount or Floor Stand, plus the Nanit app.
- It does not work with the Flex Stand, because the camera needs to be directly above the cot.
Choosing a size
The Breathing Wear Band comes in three sizes and the Breathing Wear Pyjamas come in two. Most families size up every few months as their baby grows.
- Band Small: Newborn to 3 months
- Band Medium: 3 to 6 months
- Band Large: 6 months and up
- Pyjamas: Newborn and 3 Month sizes
- Warranty: 1 year
Nanit Pro systems include newborn Breathing Wear to start with. Larger sizes are sold separately as your baby grows.
Getting the fit right
- Dress your baby in their usual sleepwear.
- Put the Band on over the sleepwear, not against the skin.
- Check it sits snugly, but not tightly, around the chest.
- Make sure the printed pattern faces up towards the camera, with nothing blocking the camera's view of it.
- Open the Nanit app and check that breathing motion is showing.
The pyjamas are 100% cotton with a two-way zipper for nappy changes. They should also sit snugly against the chest so the camera has a clear, unobstructed view of the pattern.
Washing and care
- Bands and pyjamas are machine washable.
- The pyjamas are also dryer safe.
- Always follow the care instructions on the garment label.
- Check the Band still fits snugly after washing and as your baby grows.
Safe sleep comes first
Nanit Breathing Wear and breathing motion monitoring are not medical devices and are not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent any medical condition, including SIDS. Always follow safe sleep practices, such as placing your baby on their back to sleep and keeping the sleep space clear.
