The Hannie is designed to be the one seat your child uses at the table from around 6 months to around 5 years. It changes with them as you add or remove parts, so there is no new chair to buy.

The two modes at a glance
- Baby Chair mode: The seat with the 3-point harness, used with or without the tray and the Reversible Cushion with Back Plate Support
- Baby Chair mode limit: Up to 36 months or 15 kg, whichever comes first
- Toddler Seat mode: The seat used at booster height, with the cushion removed
- Toddler Seat mode limit: From 3 to 5 years, up to 25 kg
- Overall age range: Around 6 months to around 5 years
Four seating options
The user manual shows four ways to use the seat. When you are not using a part, it stores inside the seat compartment.
- Baby Chair with tray.
- Baby Chair.
- Baby Chair without the cushion.
- Toddler Seat.
How the seat changes as your child grows
- Around 6 months: first tastes in Baby Chair mode, with the cushion, Back Plate Support, harness and tray.
- From 7 to 9 months: finger foods and plenty of mess. The tray wipes down or goes in the dishwasher.
- Around 12 months: spoon experiments begin, in the same seat with the same routine.
- Around 18 months: many toddlers want to eat with the family, so take the tray off and pull the chair up to the table.
- From 3 years: Toddler Seat mode, with the cushion retired and the seat at booster height, rated to 25 kg.
- To 5 years: your child keeps their own seat at home, at cafés and at the grandparents' place.
When to start and when to switch
Start from around 6 months, once your baby has steady head and neck control and can sit upright without help. Every baby moves at their own pace, and your child health nurse or GP is the right person to ask if you are unsure.
The user manual gives Baby Chair mode as suitable up to 36 months or a maximum of 15 kg, and Toddler Seat mode from 3 to 5 years, up to 25 kg. Whichever of these your child reaches first, 36 months or 15 kg, is the time to move on from Baby Chair mode.
As your child grows, you simply remove the cushion. The Hannie Learning Hub has a stage-by-stage guide to the first five years at the table.
Weight limits
Never go over 15 kg in Baby Chair mode or 25 kg in Toddler Seat mode. Damage caused by overloading, including going over the stated weight limits, is not covered by the warranty.
