Gaia Baby Eos Cot Bed: set-up, mattress heights and conversions

The Eos Cot Bed is made from glue-free, solid A-Grade New Zealand pine with a non-toxic, water-based paint finish. It converts from a cot to a toddler bed and then a first bed, taking your child from birth to around 5 years.

Before you start

• The cot bed arrives in two cartons.
• An Allen key is supplied. You will also need a cross head screwdriver.
• Allow under 60 minutes with two people, and do not use a power drill.
• Do not fully tighten the bolts on the cot sides until the cot is fully assembled, and never over-tighten them.
• Keep unused fittings somewhere safe and away from children, as you will need them for later stages.

Mattress and base heights

A mattress is not included. The Eos needs a 70 x 140 cm mattress, 10 cm deep, such as the Gaia Eos Cot Mattress (140 x 70 x 10 cm). Use only one mattress.

There are two mattress heights. Use the top base position for your newborn, for approximately birth to 3 months. Once your baby can push up on their hands or starts to pull up using the side of the cot, you must move the base to the bottom position, and always before your baby can sit up unaided.

Converting as your child grows

• Cot bed: birth to about 3 years.
• Toddler bed: about 3 to 4 years.
• First bed: about 4 to 5 years. The first bed is not suitable for children under 4.

All the parts for each stage are included. Once your child can climb out of the cot, stop using it as a cot and convert it straight away to the toddler bed or first bed. Once converted, place the bed tight against a wall or leave a 300 mm gap, and keep it away from heaters, windows and other furniture.

• Clean with a damp cloth. Never use bleach or abrasive cleaners, as they damage the surface.
• Check the cot regularly and do not use it if any part is loose, damaged or missing.
• Slight colour variation between pieces is normal for real timber.

Gaia Baby furniture has a 2 year warranty from the date of purchase. Register your product within 3 months of purchase and the warranty extends to 5 years.
